About Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP)

At UTP, students can select from a wide range of engineering, science, and technology programmes available at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The university aims to develop well-rounded graduates equipped with strong communication and leadership abilities. UTP collaborates with Petronas as well as local and international institutions and industries to carry out extensive research in six key focus areas: sustainable buildings, transportation systems, health analytics, hydrocarbon recovery, pollution control, and autonomous technologies. To date, UTP has graduated more than 15,000 students and currently hosts over 1,200 foundation students, 6,000 undergraduates, and 1,200 postgraduate students representing more than 60 countries worldwide.

Program Outline

Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP) offers a comprehensive range of programmes at foundation, undergraduate, and postgraduate levels, focusing on engineering, science, technology, computing, and business. At the pre-university level, foundation programmes prepare students for degree studies in engineering, science, computing, and business-related fields. Undergraduate programmes include various Bachelor of Engineering degrees such as Chemical, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics, Petroleum, Materials, and Computer Engineering, as well as programmes in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Business Management, Applied Chemistry, and Petroleum Geoscience. These programmes typically integrate theoretical learning, laboratory work, industry training, and final-year projects. At the postgraduate level, UTP offers Master’s degrees by coursework and research, along with PhD programmes across engineering, computing, science, and management disciplines. The university’s academic structure is mainly organized under the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science, Management and Computing, supporting strong industry collaboration and research-driven education.

Candidates with BSc degrees in different disciplines must undergo prerequisite courses in Engineering/ Engineering Technology. 		154 and above 5.0 and above
PhD Candidates must hold a Master's Degree in the relevant field OR equivalent from a recognized university.
