UTM SPACE (Universiti Teknologi Malaysia School of Professional and Continuing Education) is a leading institution focused on providing top-notch continuing education services. As the core corporate arm of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), it meticulously designs, oversees, and implements lifelong learning programs to meet a variety of educational needs.

Since its establishment, UTMSPACE has expanded from offering professional development programs such as in-house training, workshops, and seminars, to providing diploma and undergraduate courses starting in the 1995/96 academic year. This expansion was in response to the increasing demand for flexible education options across both public and private sectors. Today, UTMSPACE offers a broad range of diploma and undergraduate programs, in addition to modules from UTM’s main faculties. With 17 learning centers across Malaysia, UTMSPACE ensures that quality education is easily accessible.

The Professional Programs at UTMSPACE aim to enhance both soft and technical skills through short courses that can be customized for specific groups. Additionally, it provides Professional Skills Certificates, giving graduates a competitive advantage in the workforce. UTMSPACE also plays a key role in event management, organizing both local and international seminars and conferences.

The Executive Diploma programs are tailored for employees looking to enhance their knowledge and skills, while the English Language programs help international students improve their proficiency for higher education. These language courses are also available to local individuals and working adults seeking to boost their workplace communication skills.

In its pursuit of excellence, UTMSPACE actively responds to community needs, supported by robust promotion and marketing efforts. After UTM’s elevation to a Research University in 2010, UTMSPACE took on the responsibility of managing UTM College of Science and Technology (KST) and the Joint Programme Management Unit (UPPK), solidifying its role in driving Full-Time Diploma and Joint Diploma Programs in partnership with 17 private colleges.

A significant milestone for UTMSPACE came on January 28, 2011, when it was officially registered as a Limited Company by Guarantee, highlighting its role as a business arm of UTM focused on lifelong learning. UTM-SPACE is part of UTM. UTM has established UTM-SPACE to offer more variant programs like foundation and diploma, along with an ability for students who do not meet the minimum entry requirements for UTM’s mainstream degree programs to join some of them with lower entry requirements but with slightly more expensive tuition fees.

UTM has many sports and recreational facilities, both indoors and outdoors, such as football stadiums, hockey, tennis, cricket courts, an equestrian park, kayaking, badminton, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool. These facilities will be supplemented by some public and privately funded facilities available outside the campus. Students are encouraged to join the many student clubs and social activities offered. The sports unit is available to help organize and oversee sports functions and competitions.
